Chalk, grapes, and ???
I've heard white drops in game referred to as "chalk", and purple drops referred to as "grapes."
So is there a term for the blue and gold drops? |

I've honestly never heard of white items as "chalk."
"Grape" I have heard of, and is the only term like this used by the community at large. The term "grape" came up with chest running since chests used to all drop the same color item (thus a chest that only droped purples was called a grape chest and the rest of the team knew not to open it). |

Never heard "chalk", but if you are doing Chest runs you see people saying grape quite often. |

I was playing an early mission in Prophecies last night and a gold wep dropped for me and a noob asked, "Are orange items good?"
I might start calling gold items "oranges" just because it was so funny. Incidentally, another player on the mission said that he called orange items "bananas." Regarding blues, I did a search online and found that some people refer to blues as "opals." I'm not fond of it, and am searching for something better. What is blue? Blue sky. Blue jeans. Maybe following the grapes and orange theme, it should be a fruit. Blue berries? But many berries are purple or red, and besides, chalk isn't a fruit. |

I suspect that grape is used for the purple items because it is the only one of the colors that is more than one syllable long. The natural tendency is to find a way to shorten it.

Opals aren't commonly blue. Besides it has the same number of letters as blue.

As it's been said already, purples are pretty commonly called grapes (I assume in jest and not to shorten the word...I mean common! Two syllables is too long? But I digress). For the most part I've heard people call blues and golds their respective colors, and I've never heard "chalk" used. Doesn't matter, for the most part it's merch food....maybe that's where the fruit terms originated.
